Information For Veterans & Hiring Authorities

The University of Oregon is a federal contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), as amended. Consistent with its obligations under VEVRAA, the University of Oregon prohibits discrimination and takes affirmative steps to employ, advance in employment and otherwise treat qualified individuals without discrimination based on their status as a recently separated veteran, armed forces service medal veteran, disabled veteran or other protected veteran. The University of Oregon is also subject to the Oregon State Veterans' Preference Act which provides qualifying veterans and disabled veterans with preference in employment.

If you are an employee or applicant for employment who is a covered veteran for purposes of VEVRAA and wish to self-identify in order to benefit from the University’s affirmative action program for covered veterans, please complete the Disabled Workers and Veterans Self-Identification Form and return it to the Office of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity as directed on the form.

If you are a supervisor or hiring authority, you must give every newly hired employee a copy of the Disabled Workers and Veterans Self-Identification Form and encourage them to complete and return the form to the Office of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity.
