Penelope Daugherty

Ms. Daugherty is responsible for managing the University’s affirmative action and equal opportunity compliance functions and directing the activities of the Office of Affirmative Action & Equal Opportunity (OAAEO).  This includes overseeing development and implementation of the University of Oregon Affirmative Action Plan in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, advising administrators, faculty, staff and students regarding affirmative action and equal opportunity issues, overseeing the discrimination grievance intake, referral, informal resolution and investigation process, the reasonable accommodation process for employees with disabilities and serving as a resource with respect to accessibility issues for members of the public with disabilities, and compliance with Title IX.  The office is committed to working with all members of the university community to ensure compliance with applicable affirmative action, equal opportunity and nondiscrimination obligations, and to support and enhance the University’s commitment to diversity.

Vanessa Crakes

Ms. Crakes plays a critical role in coordinating the university response to reported issues of sexual harassment, conducting preliminary investigations and working with campus partners to ensure an integrated response to reported Title IX concerns.  She serves as a resource to members of the University community who have questions or concerns regarding prohibited discrimination, discriminatory harassment and equal opportunity issues.  She assists in the development and presentation of training related to all forms of prohibited discrimination and discriminatory harassment, specifically including sexual harassment.

Carol joined the Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity team as a Sr. Equal Opportunity Specialist focusing on Title IX complaints.

Judith Rideout
Affirmative Action Specialist 541-346-2942

Ms. Rideout has primary responsibility for development and implementation of the university’s affirmative action efforts, gathering and analyzing relevant data, generating required and ad hoc reports, and developing a compliant affirmative action plan.  She works with the OAAEO team and campus partners to understand and generate data that will help guide ongoing affirmative action and diversity efforts, and to identify and promote best practices in areas requiring ongoing attention.  She works closely with the unclassified search process, ensuring that affirmative efforts are consistent with applicable legal requirements.  She also contributes to professional development and information materials regarding affirmative action.

Vivian Wright
Executive Assistant 541-346-2978

Ms. Wright provides confidential executive assistance to the director.  She also provides administrative oversight of the day-to-day operations of the office, ensuring that office procedures support consistent and efficient processing of unclassified search and appointment paperwork.  She serves a primary communications role for the office, responding to questions from a wide variety of on- and off-campus constituents.  She administers the office web site and provides a broad range of assistance to the director and other staff in connection with all areas of OAAEO responsibility.
